Glantawe (Swansea Valley) Lions Club will be kicking off their Defibrillators for Birchgrove project this weekend, July 22nd and 23rd, at Asda, Llansamlet. All of the monies raised will go towards the purchase of 5 to 7 Zoll AED defibrillators for Birchgrove. Each defibrillator plus its box costs £1350, and Glantawe (Swansea Valley) Lions are hoping to raise £10,000 over the next few months. The first defibrillator will be positioned at Birchgrove Rugby Club, then as the money is raised other locations within Birchgrove will be chosen until the whole village is covered. The target is, that nobody will be more than 3 minutes away from a defibrillator throughout the village.
The Lions are undertaking the project in conjunction with the charity MyCariad.org, and each defibrillator purchased will be maintained by MyCariad.org for 7 years.
The Defibrillator project is one of several that Glantawe (Swansea Valley) Lions Club are undertaking over the next 12 months, to celebrate 100 years of Lionism throughout the World.
